I haven’t used my website in a while. I will start using this blog now to document my cancer journey. I figured I’d start off easy with a post with basic facts about my diagnosis.
I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in March of 2026. It’s a shock. I’m only 40 years old. I never saw this coming.
In less than 2 weeks, I am getting my entire thyroid removed. During the surgery, if the surgeon sees that it has spread to my lymph nodes he’ll remove them, too.
I do not know yet when I’ll see an endocrinologist, as I’ll have to be on medication for the rest of my life. I also do not know what stage I’m in (I’ll find out after surgery) nor do I know if I’ll be getting additional treatments, such as radioactive iodine, after the surgery. There’s a lot of unknowns.
For now, I’m just trying to stay sane and hoping I make it through the surgery. Thanks for reading!
